A country lad with and accounting background, who, in 1979 bought a oneway ticket to London, no accommodation or tours booked no insurance just a pocketful of cash was my introduction to travel. How things have changed, Insurance, now you would not leave home without it.
After punching a Double Decker bus around Europe, Scandinavia, North Africa, Russia, the former Eastern Bloc, Canada, the USA and Mexico for Top Deck Travel for 2 1/2 years and then managed the Top Deck Travel operation in North America for a further 3 three years until I returned to Australia.

On my return I managed retail agencies for 10 years before biting the bullet in 1995 and opening my own Harvey World office in East Maitland, I knew only about 10 people in Maitland. I have been here 14 years now and love the Hunter Valley area. My aim is to visit 100 countries and invest those experiences and knowledge into my clients holidays, only 30 odd countries to go.

In the last few years we have been arranging our own group tours to Canada and Alaska, USA, Hong Kong, Vietnam, Egypt, Jordan & Europe, China and Mongolia, Nepal and India.
These have have become very popular as we depart from Maitland and the tours are fully escorted.

Who else has a job where you make dreams come true.
 

Amanda Peacock

During my mid teens I took my first overseas trip to the USA and it was then that I caught the 'travel bug'.  As fate would have it, I would end up working in the office where that trip was booked - right here at Harvey World Travel Greenhills. 

I was born and raised in the local area and have recently married and made my own home here.  I like living in the area, it's a great place to call home.   I love working in the travel industry and can't really see myself doing anything else.  It's challenging, exciting and always changing, there is never a 'dull' day at the office.

Destinations I have visited include: USA (West Coast, Hawaii, New York), Canada (Rockies), London & Europe, Bangkok, Hong Kong and Macau, Bali, New Zealand, Fiji, Samoa, Cook Islands including Aitutaki, Vanuatu, Pacific Cruising onboard Pacific Sky, Club Med Lindeman Island and Tropical North Queensland.
Some of my favourite destinations include Hawaii, Paris, New York and New Zealand.
Like anyone else mad about travel, I have an extremely lengthy 'to do' list, which includes just about everywhere.  High on my list of priorities is New York (trip planned for November 06) & Egypt.

Words can't really describe the thrill and excitement of travel and the lifetime of memories which it creates.

Amanda is now on maternity leave after the birth of a son.
